Prevent Repetitive Strain Injuries at Work

A doctor-led program for employers who want to prevent repetitive strain injuries before they become a serious workplace issue. We evaluate how employees move and work, correct the factors causing strain, and help reduce long-term injury costs over time.

Trusted By

We work with HR leaders, safety managers, and operations teams across San Francisco, the Bay Area, Seattle, Spokane, and Coeur d’Alene to identify repetitive strain risks early and reduce the cost of RSI-related workplace injury claims.

The Problem With Waiting for RSI Symptoms to Appear

Repetitive strain injuries rarely happen suddenly. By the time an employee reports wrist pain, forearm discomfort, elbow soreness, or shoulder tension, the issue has often been developing for months. Many employers only respond at that point, when the condition is more difficult and expensive to address.

A more effective approach is to identify the source of strain before it becomes a formal injury. That means evaluating daily work tasks, equipment setup, and employee movement patterns across an entire workday.

Our Workplace Ergonomics Program is built around identifying these risks early and correcting them before they develop into long-term problems.

Who This Service Is For

Repetitive strain injuries are not limited to warehouses or manufacturing environments. They also affect office employees and anyone performing the same movements repeatedly throughout the day without adequate variation or recovery.

This service is designed for HR managers, safety leaders, and operations teams actively managing RSI concerns or looking to prevent them before they become costly claims. It is especially valuable for organizations seeking a proactive injury prevention strategy instead of reacting after injuries occur.

This program is a strong fit for organizations with:

  • Employees reporting wrist, forearm, elbow, or shoulder discomfort related to work
  • Roles involving extensive computer use throughout the day
  • Repetitive physical tasks performed without structured recovery or movement variation
  • Previous RSI-related workers’ compensation claims without a prevention strategy in place
  • Teams that have never had repetitive movement risks formally assessed
  • Workplace safety requirements that require documented RSI risk management

What We Evaluate and Correct

Most RSI advice focuses only on stretching and taking breaks. While that can help, it does not address the root cause. In many cases, the real issue comes from workstation setup, equipment positioning, and repetitive movement patterns employees may not even notice.

Common problems we identify and correct include:

  • Keyboard and mouse placement creating wrist and forearm strain over time
  • Tools or equipment requiring excessive gripping force during repetitive tasks
  • High-volume clicking and scrolling causing tendon irritation in computer-based roles
  • Task structures that repeatedly overload the same muscle groups throughout the day

How the Program Works

We evaluate the employee, the task, and the workplace environment. Whenever possible, corrections are made during the same visit.

The process:

  1. You identify the roles most affected and where your team is located
  2. We review the tasks employees perform and how the workspace is organized
  3. We visit your workplace and conduct individual clinician-led assessments
  4. Each employee receives hands-on corrections, practical guidance, and a written summary
  5. You receive an optional report outlining findings and recommended next steps

If the level of risk requires continued support, findings can transition into our Corporate MSK Risk Reduction Program for ongoing monitoring, care, and injury prevention.

What Employers Typically Experience After the Program

Taking a clinical approach to RSI prevention leads to measurable and trackable improvements. The earlier repetitive strain risks are identified, the less costly and disruptive they become.

Employers commonly report:

  • Fewer RSI complaints and formal injury reports across assessed teams
  • Reduced workers’ compensation costs related to wrist, forearm, and shoulder conditions
  • Lower short-term absenteeism linked to repetitive strain injuries
  • Task and equipment changes that make daily work physically easier for employees
  • Documented RSI risk records for workplace safety and compliance reporting
  • Employees with a stronger understanding of personal risk factors and prevention habits

Our clinicians identify RSI risks that standard wellness providers or general safety personnel may overlook. That clinical expertise is what helps create long-term improvements rather than temporary fixes

How This Connects to Other Services

RSI rarely exists on its own. It often develops alongside neck and back issues because the same workstation habits and movement patterns typically affect multiple parts of the body simultaneously.

For employers managing physical risk across multiple offices, our ergonomic assessment services are available throughout San Francisco, the Bay Area, Seattle, Spokane, and Coeur d’Alene.

Commercial property managers can also incorporate RSI prevention services into tenant wellness programs or conference wellness lounge events.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a repetitive strain injury?
RSI is a term used to describe pain or discomfort caused by repeated movement over time. It most commonly affects the wrists, forearms, elbows, and shoulders and is frequently seen in office employees, healthcare workers, and physically demanding occupations.
A basic workstation review checks whether a desk setup meets minimum ergonomic standards. A clinical RSI assessment evaluates the employee’s movement patterns, work tasks, and equipment use to identify the specific factors driving repetitive strain risk.
In many cases, yes. When contributing factors are identified and corrected early, many RSI cases never develop into formal injuries. In high-demand roles, risk may not be eliminated entirely, but it can often be significantly reduced.
Yes. We assess RSI risk across office environments, mixed-role workplaces, and physically demanding occupations. Every assessment is tailored to the type of work being performed.
An initial assessment establishes a baseline. Follow-up assessments are recommended when job roles change, new equipment is introduced, or complaints begin appearing in previously assessed teams. Annual reviews are a practical starting point for higher-risk roles.
Yes. Our clinical records document workplace conditions, identified risk factors, and corrective actions taken. That documentation may support HR, legal, and workplace injury management processes.
